Thanks to its innovation capabilities and excellence in service, SIPA has been chosen as a key supplier by PREMIUM WATERS, a leading North American bottled water company.
The company from Chippewa Falls has been working in the market for more than 130 years, and counts six different production sites located strategically across the US territory, supplying different types of water: Spring, Purified, Purified with minerals and Distilled water, to satisfy every consumer need in the United States. Premium Waters is owned by Chesterman Coke, a Coca-Cola bottler based in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Co-operation between SIPA and Premium Waters
Premium Waters approached SIPA in 2003 to consider selfmanufacturing. They purchased an HS 12/32 and were able to reduce the weight of their 10 oz. package by 15% compared to the identical container supplied by a converter using competitor’s equipment. Satisfied with the reliability and the support of SIPA, they have purchased a total of 18 machines over the years. We continue to keep their machines competitive through upgrades such as servo Rotoblock, induction heating and ARS.
Bottle Light-weight Program
Premium Waters selected SIPA to study a light-weight program for three formats: 500 ml, 600 ml and 300 ml. SIPA proceeded to create bottles that offer excellent performance: the 0.5 l weighs just 9.9 grams and is 25% lighter than the previous bottle but performs with existing filling lines including empty bottle palletizing. This is the bottle that SIPA showcased on the Tri-Bloc at Drinktec and visitors commented how strong the bottle was given its weight. Our R&D department did further development work on the 500ml and has demonstrated a 7.6g bottle (also shown at Drinktec). Weight improvements have also been made for the 600 ml format, which weights a mere 11.9 grams (with cost savings of 20%) while the 300 ml format weights just 7.9 grams.
