HIGH-TEC BOTTLING FOR BACKUS (SABMILLER)

With a total investment of 20,200 millions Peruan Sol (about $ 7.000.000) the line # 7 has been improved in record time. Line # 7 is a new line for carbonates soft drinks and malt beverage in Ate plant (Perù). A line provided totally by SIPA, Italy.

State of the art equipments, high speed production and record time installation are the three characteristics describing the new bottling line of Ate facility dedicated to the bottling of PET bottles for Guarana soda, Viva Backus and Maltin Power nutritional drink.
It could not be otherwise, Line # 7 was improved strictly following the rules and guidelines of Backus SABMiller excellence and quality standards.
Major parts of equipment come from Italy, except for the transport system which comes from a South African supplier. All line components are made in stainless steel featuring state of the art cleaning and food sanitation systems (CIP) ensuring the highest hygienic standards.
Maltin Power for example, requires an industrial sterilization in order to ensure a longer product shelf life. For this reason Line # 7 features a flash pasteurization system (high temperatures in a short time) acquired from a prestigious European supplier.
Main equipments of the new bottling line:
• “Isofill P2R” Filling Monobloc (SIPABerchi, Italy)
• “Genius PTF-3” automatic palletizing system (SIPABerchi, Italy)
• Flash pasteurizer (Italy)
• Pneumatic transportation system (SIPABerchi, Italy) and South African provider
• Laminar tunnel (Italy)
• Product mixer and carbonator (SIPABerchi, Italy)
• Level inspection (Italy)
• Semi Automatic C.I.P. (SIPABerchi, Italy)
• Ozonizator (Italy)
• Video Jet (USA)

The new bottling line is scheduled to work in 3 shifts per day so that it will have a rotation of operators, supervisors and plant managers in addiction to actual Ate plant personnel.

Line # 7in detail
Bottle production is performed by Peruvian converter San Miguel Industrias PET with a 100% SIPA supply in-house at Ate plant which includes:
• SIPA SFR 12 Evo and SFR 8 Evo for a total output of 40,000 b/h.
• Air conveyors (SIPA Berchi, Italy)
• Roll- Adhesleeve (P.E. Italy) automatic rotary labeler
Line # 7 is a new generation bottling line dedicated to the filling of non-returnable PET bottles. The line integrates bottle production with filling and packing. This integration is performed by means of high speed neck handling air conveyors totally supplied by SIPA.
Furthermore, the total capacity of the line is 1.2 million hectoliters, namely 700 bottles/minute for 0.5 liter. This make the line 7 an high speed line: it fills 42,000 bph, even if this speed may vary accordingly to bottle format.
The filling machine (the heart of the bottling line) is especially designed for the filling of non-retournable PET bottles and features a special handling system with quick format changeover: from 330 ml to 3.0 liters in very few minutes.

A record implementation
Even if the total implementation process last 11 months, should be noted that the implementation time (excluding the production and delivery time of imported equipment) from the Greenfield to the working bottling line lasted only 4 months.
